- Seitai is a culture that encompasses all of the ground-breaking discoveries made by Haruchika Noguchi (Japan 1911-1976) in the last century. ([Location 221](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=221))
- V.I (I.V in Spanish) is not a Roman numeral. Nor is it the century that Constantine made Byzantium the capital of his empire. V.I is the formula that created you. It is the great intelligence that keeps you alive. It is the ingenious method with which life operates in each of the vital areas of your existence. It is your welcome gift into this world. You live surrounded by the mystery of it, something you already instinctively know. ([Location 266](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=266))
- You know many things. You know that you are alive. You know that since you were born you have had to learn the rules and norms of the society in which you live. You have learned to develop a sense of belonging or not with your family… But there is underlying fundamental information that you have not been able to decipher yet: YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW YOU GOT TO WHERE YOU ARE RIGHT NOW. ([Location 270](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=270))
- All of this coordinated intelligent mechanism is what makes your life flow. It is the ingenuity that keeps you alive. Your intelligence is organic, and it pervades your whole body. It is present throughout your entire organism, and it has a central organising principle. ([Location 293](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=293))
- When did you start to believe that your intellectual and philosophical abilities were more powerful than all of that intelligent organisation alive within you? ([Location 305](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=305))
- How much do you rate your V.IQ, your vital intelligence quotient…? I think that few of us would pass the test because the majority have grown up in the world of SCI, Social and Cultural Intelligence where ANYTHING GOES YET NOTHING MATTERS. Value is measured in parameters of economic quantity. What has no real value costs a lot while we destroy what actually holds true value. There are people who will pay millions of dollars for a Chinese vase from the Ming Dynasty. At the same time, natural forests that are thousands of years old, one of nature’s true works of art, are being destroyed without us even blinking an eye. A news flash makes the incredible announcement of the opening of the Miami International Boat Show where we can be amazed by the nautical luxury on display. Unfortunately, there seems to be no room among the headlines, not even among the brief miscellaneous stories for the poor clouded leopard, erased from the face of the earth saecula saeculorum (forever and ever), amen. ([Location 314](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=314))
- What seems to be distorting our vision so much? NOISE. Excess noise leaves us in a state of total confusion. If we can reduce the volume and regain sensitivity, if we re-establish, reset the tone, the frequency, the intensity, the melody, respecting everyone’s own special rhythm, maybe we could start to separate the wheat from the chaff. And to be able to do that we need a Universal common language, a foundation on which the whole mechanism can be sustained. A strong central axis is needed but at the same time it must be flexible and open, capable of synchronising all human initiatives, whether it is as a collective or on an individual basis. In order for this to happen we must regain the knowledge that Vital Intelligence has to offer us. ([Location 344](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=344))
- I suppose you have probably already realised that not everything that is offered as science is actually science nor is everything that is said to be healthy actually healthy. And it goes without saying that education is not everything that is described as such. Moreover, culture is not everything labelled as culture nor do we need everything that is presented as a necessity. Therefore, the structures that have been put into place should not enjoy the privilege of maintaining an unchangeable hold nor should they be venerated as if they were indestructible. If something does not move that is because it is either dead or it never existed. ([Location 358](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=358))
- Actually, that murmur is a treasure bestowed upon us by Mother Nature to get our attention. It is made of an active principle that generates pure connections to real life. This instinctive sensor is a reminder and is our tool to detect and identify what is not functioning properly. It is our best ally to equip us with the necessary vigour to be able to make vital decisions. I am a big fan of the uncomfortable because these annoyances are usually the catalyst to all change and evolution. ([Location 383](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=383))
- LIFE makes magic. We all know this but we have grown up in a culture that doesn’t worship the spontaneous, marvellous thing called life. We know that life lives. But we ignore how it exists, what it does to exist. And that is the great discovery of Haruchika Noguchi. He figured out how LIFE is organised through the precise structure of 5 intelligent movements. ([Location 411](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=411))
- Your Vital Intelligence is a sphere in 5 dimensions that is in permanent dialogue with your so familiar Dressed and Educated Intelligence. ([Location 431](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=431))
- That is the marvellous legacy of Haruchika Noguchi. And that legacy had a problem up until about 2 years ago. The scientific evidence behind it all hadn’t yet been brought to light. And if it exists now and I am here passing it on to you, it’s thanks to one of Noguchi’s students, Katsumi Mamine. His 40 years of Scientific study and almost 60 years of practicing and learning Seitai first-hand have resulted in a brilliant exposition of all of the discoveries Noguchi made during the last century. ([Location 451](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=451))

- The motor of human life is curiosity. When life is alive, our curiosity is directed towards the movement of everything that exists. But if the vital impulse shrinks, curiosity disappears. Curiosity is the starting point of all creation. Children need to be continuously stimulated by their curiosity and it is the role of the adults to not reduce it but to direct it towards creation. Creation is what propels human beings towards a new and refreshing life. Haruchika Noguchi, (founder of Seitai) ([Location 520](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=520))
- Seitai can change your life… if you want it to. You will need to enjoy a high level of desire. In order to identify that desire, you only have to examine the dissatisfaction deep within you. That uneasiness is the language that your Vital Intelligence is using to get your Rational Intelligence’s attention. Your reasoning hasn’t accepted V.I’s vital role and has engineered a kind of coup d’état wanting to do everything on its own without taking into account the rest of your intelligences that are just as important. So, your rational intelligence feels the internal conflict. ([Location 546](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=546))
- Surrender to the wonderful pleasure of being able to penetrate the absence of time and space. This will free up one of the fundamental active components of the serum of your intelligence: your breathing. ([Location 554](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=554))
- Your Vital Intelligence only wants one thing: to fulfil your vital desires and those desires spring forth from your organism. ([Location 581](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=581))
- two fundamental practices that anyone can do and that you will learn shortly: Katsugen Undo and Yuki. ([Location 735](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=735))
- It was clear to Noguchi that we are not who we want to be but what our organism allows us to be. We are our movements. What’s more is that we have inherited the movements from all of the generations of our ancestors. ([Location 758](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=758))
- Discomfort is the expression of what is complicating our vital functions and as a result our psyche gets pulled into inexplicable anxiety and apathy. ([Location 762](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=762))
- Noguchi attended thousands of people and clearly observed how the organism always looks to restore balance in the state of imbalance. ([Location 767](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=767))
- This great man attended thousands of people and confirmed that illness is actually EPT, excessive partial tension. In other words, it is the force that inhibits life – life with the desire to live. It is the fierceness of a wild horse that has just been captured and fenced in a field. The horse will shake, it will twist and turn, and it will neigh desperately, all in an attempt to be free of the bridle although it is hurting itself in the process. Nevertheless, once a horse has been tamed, it is one of the most docile of all animals. The clots that form from living life make us submissive. To live in fear paralyses us. ([Location 834](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=834))
- Noguchi designed two approaches within Seitai, Seitai Shido and Seitai Soho. Seitai Shido is more general and teaches individuals how they can tend to their own life’s physical, biological and psychological activities all together as a whole. And Seitai Soho or Orientation Seitai is the professional method used for the personalised treatment of another individual. ([Location 847](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=847))
- - Heikoyokyu no ni hoko: The Vital Organic, Physical and Reactivities of the Psyche - Shigueki han osei wa go hoko ni ugoku: this long phrase expresses an apparent human typology that is divided into 10 types with two additional ones that are considered to be extraordinary because they are so unusual. But in reality, he was defining the composition of each curve of the vertebral column. ([Location 900](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=900))
- As long as one believes that they are making their body live thanks to their own effort, they will not be able to totally release the tension, and so they will not be able to gain the fulfilment of their own nature and of their own centre. In order to live without effort, one must have faith in oneself since life is lived in Nature. This is the only path to fulfilment. Haruchika Noguchi ([Location 1075](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1075))
- Ki is to life as water is to fish. The little fish are immersed in water. You are immersed in Ki. You live in an ocean of Ki. You are submerged in the universe of Ki. You are made of Ki. Ki is the fundamental ingredient of your make-up. It is the decisive, active principle that created you and that allows you to stay alive. ([Location 1081](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1081))
- Living is unstoppable to and fro. It is a constant vibrating and has little if nothing to do with our obsession to measure things in parts: cholesterol, blood pressure, sugar. None of that by itself is you. All of it is interconnected and operates within the whole. It obeys cellular intelligence nourished by your Ki. And it is increased by your respiration. Your most authentic you is your respiration. Ki is your vibration. ([Location 1179](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1179))
- Life is a permanent to and fro, a rhythmic oscillation. Whether you have thought about it or not, to and fro is an uninterrupted occurrence, an experience that has accompanied you, accompanies you, and will accompany you until your last breath. Your heart beats. It contracts in systole and lets go in diastole. Contraction and relaxation. The action of pumping. Your pulse just like your respiration never stops, never rests. The to and fro of the heart. The to and fro of your breathing. A to and fro motion is present in all of the important activities of your organism. Your thoughts come and go. Your lungs, your throat, your blood circulation. Everything comes and goes. Everything contracts and then relaxes. Everything inhales and exhales. ([Location 1199](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1199))
- A wave that breaks on the beach is a wave that recedes. This is probably the most graphic and eloquent example of the to and fro movement: the waves invading the sand, crashing onto the shore and ebbing away in silence. ([Location 1222](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1222))
- Your existence cannot be placed on a bookshelf. It would be more realistic to hold on to your stomach and prepare yourself for the ups and downs. We are riding on an unstoppable rollercoaster. And the ups and downs are not the same for everyone. Some seem to stay at high tide longer and barely hit low tide while for others low tide seems to be what predominates. ([Location 1239](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1239))
## New highlights added November 11, 2024 at 7:34 AM
- To and fro gently rocks our existence and it is interesting to live with this awareness. We are more permissive with the daily ups and downs. We understand ourselves and we will better understand others. ([Location 1246](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1246))
- Going back to the line of stability, obviously, there are moments when we feel like we can touch the sky. There are points that all converge, all these oscillations together, and a neutral state is reached where we feel really good. Suddenly something becomes clear in our mind. We feel like we really understand ourselves. We feel like we are in harmony with our inner selves and with the exterior world. These moments usually coincide with a very high quality respiration. ([Location 1258](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1258))
- Control, control. Connecting with the centre of operations. With your mind you manage not to eat, not to smoke, not to get angry, not to do things that are bad and to always be on your best behaviour. To drive without altering your peaceful state of mind. And guess what… It does not work. Or are you still deceiving yourself? Well, you actually do achieve one thing: a precious shrinkage, which we call equilibrium. It is an equilibrium that is so fleeting that it destabilises with every step. The Titanic is sinking and we try to stop the shipwreck from happening with tire patches for bicycles. There is nothing you can do. The ship is going to sink. There is nothing left to do but trust the to and fro, wait for the ship to hit bottom and hope that it rebounds, to be catapulted back to the surface for another breath of air. In order to resurface you first must sink. The miracle lies in the dismantling and constant rebuilding. Do you remember when we talked about how life is permanent construction and destruction? When we allow the to and fro to flow, life lives. And when it lives, life itself rewards us giving us back more life. It allows things to happen naturally without the constant fight against oneself. And that is the SECRET. Life is one big tide. Life is one big breath. Birth is high tide. The beginning of the inhalation. The decisions that are taken at the peaks of any high tide are the ones that last. Death is low tide. The end of the exhalation. The decisions that are taken at these moments usually make you feel like you are trying to climb the Himalayas. ([Location 1271](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1271))
- Life manifests itself through 5 movements, which are absolutely interdependent on each other. Any one of them exists only thanks to the presence of the other four. We started out as 5 groups of embryonic cells. They formed everything that we are today. We are 5 major organic systems and their centres, 5 cavities and their corresponding organic systems. The 5 movements, since they are interdependent, have the vital necessity to coordinate among themselves. Katsumi Mamine ([Location 1365](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1365))
- His discovery of the Structure of Life in 5 movements can be seen in all the branches of biology. It is present in the spinal column, in the organisation of the organic systems, in the composition of the brain and in how the limbs are structured ([Location 1390](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1390))
- Our origin, our process and our destiny come about spontaneously due to the 5 subtle, precisely organised and coordinated movements. ([Location 1395](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1395))
## New highlights added November 18, 2024 at 8:29 AM
- Noguchi discovered that life manifests itself and develops through movement and that movement is not just any type of movement. That movement has a structure and it is expressed in 5 dimensions. ([Location 1370](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1370))
- A company has a structure. Textbooks require a structure. In any structure, each element has its importance and is coordinated with the rest. The components don’t work on their own as if they were separate, but go hand in hand with the coordinated whole. With life, the same thing happens. Everything acts intelligently and coordinates together following an organisational principle. Well this, which is so basic, this structure of life and its order has been overlooked by human culture, both by Oriental and Western knowledge. ([Location 1399](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1399))
- Noguchi discovered a structure reduced to 5 movements in + and - , and from which life creates until infinity. The 5 combined movements create a single unique movement: The Movement that allows LIFE TO LIVE. ([Location 1408](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1408))
- The hours you dedicate to the gym or dance classes will be good for you. But if you want to get to the last little corner of your organism, to that last tense tissue, that last cell, then I am happy to introduce you to the fundamental practice of Seitai: Katsugen Undo. Practising sports moves muscles. Reading moves your intellect… Katsugen Undo moves your life as a whole. ([Location 1456](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1456))
- The life that lives in you is a big collective group in which all of its members actively collaborate together. The more intercommunication and interaction there is, the better we breathe. And the better we breathe in our tissues, our cells, our everything will have a better capacity for tensing and relaxing. Such a simple thing sparks life. ([Location 1497](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1497))
- The 5 movements are present throughout your whole organism: in your vertebrae, in your cells, in your organic, physiological, psychological and energetic functions, etc. Well, in addition to keeping in mind that this coordination is necessary for life, we also need to know that each one of these movements has its own central headquarters, which is located in a specific place. And I repeat. Although everything is present in everything, each movement has its own specific natural home. These places are where the movement manifests openly and in a more dynamic way. Each one stems from a specific location where its particular movement feels like a fish in water. It is the specialist that all the rest go to when they need advice. To compare it with a big company, we can think of vital movement as having 5 head offices/delegations, which in turn have subdelegations/ local branches /offices spread out throughout the different regions. Let’s look at the head offices first. They are found in the head, shoulders, stomach, waist and pelvis. These centre of operations are located in the following 5 cavities: Head in the cranial cavity Shoulders in the thoracic cavity Stomach in the abdominal cavity Waist in the urinary (abdominopelvic) cavity http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/uterine+cavity Pelvis in the pelvic cavity At the same time these cavities are the centre of each of the 5 great organic systems. Head-brain: Centre of the Central Nervous system Shoulders-chest-lungs: Centre of the Motor-Respiratory system Abdomen-heart-stomach: Centre of the Assimilatory-Circulatory system Kidney-bladder: Centre of the Excretory system Hips-pelvis: Centre of Reproductive, Regenerative and Connective system ([Location 1509](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1509))
- Your pelvis is the centre of central movement. When both of the pelvic bones in the pelvis close, everything closes and everything gets pulled inside and compacted. Your reproductive capacity is situated in the pelvis and that is where the sensual, all-powerful, sexual hormone is secreted. ([Location 1530](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1530))
- The central movement is implicated in such important activities such as reproduction and sex. People whose central movement is dominant (we will get to this later on) have nice buttocks, very nice actually. If you see a person with a firm body and whose pert firm buttocks seems to be pointing upward and has a very pronounced lumbar curve, that person probably has quite a closed central character. And if the opposite is true, if it is a person with a wide body, rather overweight and their buttocks are flat, they probably are more open. Check out their feet. Do their toes point outwards…? Then there is no doubt: they are very open. Opening and closing, both form part of the same central movement. Central is what renews you, making sure your cells regenerate. It is what profoundly moves you at the touch of a loving caress, when you contemplate the life of another being, when you contemplate your own life. It is the movement in charge of your cellular army when you hurt yourself. ([Location 1542](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1542))
- Your sense of touch is the one that is most directly connected with the central movement and therefore the importance of your skin. This is the movement that most closely represents that popular saying keep your feet on the ground. Centred. Central Movement. ([Location 1553](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1553))
- Central can feel like they are merging with a sunset and sense that the sun that is disappearing over the horizon and feel at one with it. Central is very bound to religious experiences or to devotional service. Central is generous selfishness. I know that that is a contradiction but their selfishness is a platform to be able to feel what is happening outside of them but inside another being. Central is intuitive and knows how to penetrate what appearances try to hide. They can appreciate something immense and far away like a starry sky from a deep inner consciousness. Central movement is static in nature just like its opposing movement, vertical, the movement that lifts or raises us upwards and keeps us upright. ([Location 1561](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1561))
- Of the 5 movements, the two that are of a static and spinal cord nature are the vertical and central movements. That means that both, each one in their own way, allow us to be quiet and seemingly immobile. However, frontal, lateral and rotatory are peripheral and dynamic movements, meaning that they allow us to move from one place to another, to act, to express ourselves, to fight, to defend ourselves, etc. In the West movement is understood using 3 concepts: Flexion-extension (f-e) Lateral inclination Rotatory ([Location 1572](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1572))
## New highlights added November 20, 2024 at 9:25 PM
- Vertical movement like in La Bamba (a Mexican folk song) goes up and up and its control centre is in the head. As our whole being needs to participate for the upward movement, there is also a lot of vertical in our fingertips and the end of the coccyx (tailbone). That is why falling on your buttocks is so dangerous. An impact on the coccyx directly affects the meninges (the three membranes that line the skull and vertebral canal and enclose the brain and the spinal cord). The head and coccyx are totally connected. ([Location 1633](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1633))
- Going back to our fingers, what do blind people read with…? On the tips of your fingers you will find the same type of cells as your neurons. We also find these cells in abundance in our eyes. So, there you have it. I just wanted to let you know that when you look at your fingertips they will be looking right back at you! ([Location 1646](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1646))
- To think deeply about something would be an interior movement related to the central movement. For the type of thinking that requires planning, coming up with ideas, imagining, assessing what has already been presented, questioning it and looking for a new approach, all forms part of vertical and directly involves the eyes. This upward movement involves looking into the distance and not getting distracted by what is close at hand. When someone is under the influence of the vertical movement, they do not like to be touched, nor do they like noise or to be distracted from their habitual meditative state. Vertical likes to be discerning, requires solitude and isolation and doesn’t like to be contaminated by other movements. Verticals love, but above all they like the idea of loving. Vertical is hierarchical. They look for and respect hierarchy. You never find the bosses of companies in the basement, but rather in the carpeted offices on the top floors. ([Location 1654](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1654))
- Frontal movement is the unsurpassed actor. I’m not talking about Paul Newman. Alas, I’m referring to actor as the noun of the verb to act. Frontal always looks ahead. It advances. It is pragmatic. Shop windows and distractions don’t exist. It always draws a straight line from beginning to end taking the shortest path. Frontal is the lungs. Frontal is the motor system (human musculoskeletal system). It is combustion. It is the nose. The nose protrudes from the face. It wants to go forward. It doesn’t have time to look at what is left on the sides and even less to look at what is left behind. Burning. Combustion. Frontal is a motorway with no detours. It is the trachea (windpipe). It is impulse. That impulse originates in the shoulders. ([Location 1681](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1681))
- Frontal is located in the cranial area, in the shoulders where the frontal movement gets all of its intensity. In its caudal zone the hip joint (coccal articulation)which acts as its base. If you want to move forward quickly, get your initial impulse with your shoulders accompanied by the inertia of the hip joint and concentrate your attention on the lumbar vertebrae L5. You will run divinely. ([Location 1693](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1693))

- Lateral movement awakens a lot of sympathy because it is a lover of communication. It enjoys sharing, talking. It is noisy. There is nothing that it likes more than to converse with a neighbour: look at this, look at that. ([Location 1708](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1708))
- Lateral is blood circulation. Lateral goes from house to house, from cell to cell, from organ to organ, from tissue to tissue and very cordially leaves the order at its destination. As a result of so many visits, lateral happens to learn about everyone else’s lives. Lateral is the mouth: the mouth that talks, the mouth that tastes. Lateral is happiness but it is also sadness. It can cry and laugh with the same ease. Lateral admires hierarchy but is totally unorganised except with themselves. For laterals beauty and looks are primordial. There’s an abyss between being good-looking and not being good-looking. ([Location 1728](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1728))
- Rotary movement. Be careful! The sheriff has come to the city. Can’t you see him? He’s swinging his hips, rotating his waist like John Wayne. Make one false move and he will shoot you down. With the rotary movement, there is no room for relaxation. Rotary is defensive. It watches. It is the waist twisting from left to right and right to left controlling all nearby space in a circumference of 360º. It is conscientious recycling. It separates what is ours, who is our friend and who is our enemy. It is the doorman at the nightclub who lets ours in with a big smile and leaves the rest waiting out in the street. ([Location 1739](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1739))
- Rotatory is relentless. It sees everything. But it does not look off into the distance as verticals do. It scrutinises the nearby territory within a circular perimeter: up, down, in a spiral, in front and behind. Drains, rooftops, wastepaper baskets… ([Location 1767](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1767))
- Here are 10 key concepts. I just want you to try to get a whiff of their aroma and start to have a vague notion of what they are all about. How movement is present in any life no matter how simple that life may be. How life is structured and organised spontaneously and with great precision in 5 movements. How these movements are present in ALL physical, organic, psychological, mental, cellular and energetic activities. How your way of responding to stimuli is very much related to the organisation of the 5 movements within the Osei Structure. (This has not been explained yet, but will be further on.) How your genes according to science and your Taiheki and according to Seitai are also very closely tied to the 5 movements and how they have been passed down from generation to generation until they got to you. (I will also talk to you about Taiheki.) How these movements coordinate among themselves because each one is ESSENTIAL to living a fulfilling life. Why it is fundamental that not one of the 5 movements is dominant over the others and taking control or that none slack off, burdening the rest with their responsibility. Each one has its moment and its importance. This is a stage where all of the actors play leading roles. Why it is fundamental that all of the movements flow in a permanent to and fro using their natural capacity to tense and relax. Why life needs the inertia of vital movement to express itself. And lastly, why knowing the existence of how life functions, changes your entire life. ([Location 1796](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1796))
- Noguchi discovered the existence of this structure of life in 5 movements by observing the spinal column of the people he treated. He realised that when the vertebrae slip out of place they do so in the following ways: One vertebra or several of them can move upwards from over stimulation of vertical movement. One vertebra or several of them can sink or protrude induced by frontal movement. One vertebra or several of them can laterally shift to the left or to the right, forming an S shape along some point of the spinal column. Lateral movement. One vertebra or several of them can twist forming a diagonal pattern along the spine. Rotary movement is altering these vertebrae. One or several vertebra can move downwards displaced by the inertia of central movement. ([Location 1815](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1815))
- If we find two vertebrae stuck together you will probably ask how you are supposed to distinguish if the defining movement was upward–vertical or downward-central… If we touch that vertebra on the top and on the bottom part, there will probably be a place that is especially painful. If the vertebra hurts on the top part, an upward movement will have displaced it. If it hurts when touching the bottom part, a downward movement will have displaced it. - Each vertebra can display the 5 movements with more or less of a capacity to carry out the specific dynamics. But independently of that multidirectional capacity that the vertebrae have, each one specialises in one of the movements. This specialisation means that each vertebra will be at its best with that particular movement in a way that it serves the vital necessities always striving for a constant equilibrium of the organism. This is its ultimate objective. Equilibrium and coordination are so important for your life and for your vital expression that they will sacrifice their original space and by moving so that the whole can remain intact. - Imagine that your vertebral column is a whip. When you flick a whip the initial motion of the handle will communicate with the tail end on the other end. The base and end are totally interconnected but there is also contact along the whole length. Even the slightest flicking action will set the whole whip into action, causing a series of waves. In order to understand this distribution of movement, the concept of regions that Noguchi revealed and Mamine has further developed is very useful. The 5 movements are reduced to the following 3 regions: • Extremes, (f-e): Vertical and frontal • Mid areas, (bilateral): Lateral • Intermediate areas, (circular): Rotatory and circular ([Location 1861](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1861))
- Going back to the topic of vertebrae, I’m going to give you an easy table where you can see the relationship between each movement with each vertebra. C is cervical, T is thoracic and L is lumbar: • Vertical: C1 and C7. T1 and T12. L1 and L5. Although C7, T12 and L5 are implicated, the main ones are C1, T1 and L1. Easy. Now do you see why I explained the structure? Here you can clearly see what I meant by extremes. We will call this extreme the cranial extreme because it is the end that is closest to the head. The caudal extreme always refers to the lower part. At each extreme at each of the spinal column’s curves there is a vertebra with vertical movement. That way you will never forget where a vertebra with vertical movement is located. Vertical is very easy to remember. Vertical is a movement that appears at the extremes and is static. Because the dynamic extreme is… • Frontal: C2. T2, T3, T4 and T12. L1 and L5, mainly L5. C2 is known as Axis. This is where the spinal column really begins because C1, which is purely vertical, is called Atlas and you cannot touch it. It is actually found just inside the cranium. Do you remember how little vertical likes physical contact…? The C1 doesn’t have the normal shape of a vertebra because it is in the form of a ring and the tooth-like projection of C2 fits up into it. C1 is totally vertical. It does not have any of any of the other movements. C2 is vertical and frontal and you start to see a slight rotatory movement. This movement is clearly manifested in C3, which is purely rotary. Therefore, with frontal we also talk about an extreme but this time it is dynamic. C2 is in the dynamic extreme of your CVP. You can find the caudal extreme in the hip joint. In other words, C2 and this joint that fits into your hip are totally interrelated. Their function and their movement are of the same nature. • Lateral: it is always found in the mid area. Look for the cervical vertebra that is right in the middle of the 7; C4. In the thoracic vertebrae, it is also found in the middle area: T6, T7, T8 and T9. L2 is not exactly in the centre but this is due some ligaments and some structural reasons that are too complicated to explain right now. The lumbar vertebrae are the maximum simplification of the 5 movements. This is very interesting but I don’t want you to get lost so for now I would prefer to leave it here. • Rotatory: occupies the intermediate dynamic areas. C3 and C5. T5 and T10. L3. You will always find rotatory in the intermediate areas between f-e and bilateral. The dynamic of turning left or right becomes easy when you combine the two planes. Don’t try to find rotatory in one of the extremes like in the case of vertical and frontal because you won’t be able to. • Central: also lies within the intermediate area like rotatory but it is of a static nature and usually forms the penultimate base position. C6, next to the last cervical vertebra. T1, next to the last thoracic vertebra. L4, next to the last… ([Location 1885](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=1885))

- Vital Intelligence developed by the Vertical Movement: it is interrelated with the Central Nervous System, (CNS). This movement of the planning psyche has its centre in the head, located in the cranial cavity. The vertical movement stems from the head and the entire CVP rises upwards, Its expression is neuronal. ([Location 3152](https://readwise.io/to_kindle?action=open&asin=B08FX8XW9S&location=3152))
- Vital Intelligence developed by the Frontal Movement: it is interrelated with the Motor Respiratory System. This movement of the pragmatic psyche has its centre in the shoulders and in the chest, to be more precise in the thoracic cavity. This is why the frontal movement stems from the shoulders. If the shoulders go forward, the entire CVP, including limbs, moves forward. The Central Nervous System (CNS) is also engaged, but its action is muscular.
